The last thing you want to hear

Today, thousands of people around the world will hear these four fateful words:

“I'm sorry, it's terminal”.

What if it was you? What would you do now, knowing your days were numbered? You know what I'm going to say next. You should do it anyway! We're not guaranteed tomorrow. It might seem that living each day as if it were your last is reckless and immature, but the alternative is to play it safe and die having not lived.

Remembering death makes us live each day with a bit more vigour. The Stoics were banging on about it 2000 years ago with Momento Mori and there's a reason we're still banging on about it now with YOLO.
