When thinking about advice and expertise, the tale of the blind men inspecting an elephant comes to mind. One, feeling its leg, offers the conclusion that the elephant is a tree. Another, feeling its trunk, concludes it is a snake.
The problem with advice, even from the most experienced of professionals - is that it comes with their world-view and bias. A UX designer will tell you it’s all about the experience. An engineer may tell you it’s all about the performance. Everyone has some kind of dogmatic view of the world, and they will offer that to you first.
The best we can do is seek different view-points. If we listen to the blind men collectively, and not individually - we get a much more useful outcome. Be mindful of the best or only way. The world is too complicated for universal truths.
